Protect Your Children From Predators: The Secret Password – please pass it forward!

secret password

A copy of a letter I sent

to all of the primary schools to save children – simple and super effective! Please pass it on

My son is 27 years old now and it has always amazed me at how many parents through those 26 years, and even now, who have no idea about the concept of the Secret Password. I used to work as a National Intelligence Support Officer for the police. I have had projects that have highlighted the danger our children are in while getting to and from school and this is an issue which is not going to go away. I have a simple solution that may help to keep children safer than they are now. My son was five and starting school, and with my background and experience I was very aware of the dangers of kerb crawlers and people who would snatch kids from off the street. So I devised this password plan, my son picked the word – at the time he believed he was allergic to zucchinis’ as he detested them so much so that became our Secret Password. This password meant that if I was unable to pick him up from school and had to send someone whom he was not familiar with, or a stranger altogether even, if they knew that Secret Password it was ok to get in the car and go with them. If the person did not know the Secret Password my son was to drop his school backpack and run like the devil was after him, (which would be the case), straight back into the school grounds and to the principal’s office. He only had to use this once, and because he did run, he is still here and I am not writing this letter to you out of a sad and broken story where the solution is all but too late. But I write this out of a realisation that something so very simple could help to protect children, our children, for they are all of our children and we all need to be responsible for helping to keep them safe. I hope you find some benefit in this little gem and hand it out to all parents and caregivers and tell all that you can please, so that this safety net is in place. I thank you for your time to read this and thank you also, for teaching our children and caring for them.

With the most sincerest intent and with regards

Kait King, BA Crim.

  1. Such a great idea. I remember hearing this so many years ago when my young children weren’t talking yet. I think us parents are going to need to have this talk with our kiddos this weekend. It is SO important. We have already been battling the “we don’t keep secrets in this family” with our kiddos, as some have come from orphanages and there were LOTS of secrets they have held inside…thank you for this important information!!! 🙂

  2. Kait, I want to say THANK YOU!!!! for all you do, and have done.
You are a very large Blessing, to me, to Our Circle, to this endeavor which you have brought so much good to, and to this world.
It is an honor to have been allowed by Our Loving GOD, to have had the privilege of meeting you, and actually traveling this pathway through Our Lives together, at least for a short time.
I hope you always know that you hold a very large spot in my heart.
I ran “Stranger Danger” again, in fact, as the first post with Our Site utilizing the Google Translator widget.

    • Oh thank you so much 🙂 I really do hope so, I would love this to be viral – if it helps just one child ( which has happened) then it’s worth pushing everywhere! I just wish I was better at marketing it! 🙂

        • A troll? That sounds dodgy! :/Hope you get that sorted soon. I have never used the ‘press this’ button – I just continually schedule…I may not be the best person to ask about this as I don’t even know what it does lol 🙂 Sorry Robert! 🙂

          • Kait, you are one in a million, I couldn’t remember how I shared last time, but that sounds like what I did.
Trolls are nothing new for our site, they came out of the woodwork on G when we got started but we had a good team in place, few people ever realized what The Merry Men were.
            Thank You Kait,

            • What creeps!! Why in the world would you troll a child protection site unless you were a paedophile/sadist/child sex trader anyway! As you would know, the ISP data of the offender is often blocked but not always impossible to obtain if you have a team such as yours! Blessings Robert and to yours, take care out there! LoVe your work 🙂

              • Kate I have been able to do that for years. But that is why the sex offenders and Child Predators tried to hang around. All it takes is about two comments from them on one of our posts, and there is little doubt thaat they care nothing for the well-being of Children.
Kate, you of all people know people very well. Some things belong behind closed doors, but these people aren’t happy with that, which shows you how much “love” is involved in their fantasy world.
The day that someone thinks their issues are more important than the well being of their Children, or any Children, that is the moment that I KNOW they are not just INDIFFERENT to Child Abuse, they are Child Predators.

                  • Kait, I want to tell you something that happened last Saturday.
Poachers had been killing elephants in Kenya I believe, and all the siezed Ivory tusks were stacked in a large pyre. This past Saturday they were going to burn that ivory.
Why would they destroy that ivory???? Kait I just looked it up and it was 105 tons….

                    • They destroy it so it can’t be made into jewellery etc that people want – the philosophy behind this is that if it is not available the desire for it will go away. It is not used for anything else other than adornment for humans – so it is destroyed….

  5. Pingback: Stranger Danger Protection: The Secret Password – please pass it forward :) | Stories From a Mind Like Mine

    • It is Dave! Thank you – I’m hoping it gets passed around and goes viral as it is so simple and easy – kids remember the passwords – it also can identify anyone else who tries to get your kids to keep a secret. A password between parents and child is a secret in itself and the only secret any parent should ask that child to keep – a password to keep them safe. Paedophiles groom kids in order to keep secrets and I think this alleviates some of the danger/pressure on kids and highlights the fact that the ONLY secret your kid keeps is that password – no one else may keep a secret with your child….just my way of thinking – won’t work all the time but would certainly make kids think twice if they were asked to keep a secret by anyone else…:)

      • So true, Kait. If you tell them that’s the only secret they have to keep then they may be more likely to share should anyone ask them to keep anything else secret then we could keep them safer, I hope so anyway.

          • I know, I’m frightened to talk to a child these days in case the parent thinks I’m trying to groom them. I would never do anything to hurt any child but I would hurt those who would. Children should be allowed to learn through play, without fear, in safety. Children are strong but things like sexual abuse take a long time to recover from, if it ever happens.

            • And some never recover and become another cycle of abusers again too…it sucks big time but I know many men who feel the same way. Friend of mine was out for a run, saw a little girl fall off a tire swing and instinctually headed over to her and then veered away, realising that someone might think that he had hurt or scared her – he couldn’t see her parents but felt too uncomfortable to hang around either and look like a stalker. He had to leave her and run up the hill to a shop and ask a woman to go down and make sure the little girl was safe…and he’s a cop – it sat even worse with him to have to leave her there alone in case some freak did try to approach her – that’s the price everyone is paying because of a few sick bastards who deserve a bullet – problem solved – except some stupid law says we aren’t allowed to do that to paedophiles….

      • Ms King, I have found something to possibly take me away from all the depressing Child Abuse stories I have to read, at least for a little while.
I have also been the victim of harrassment by several sex offenders. I tried to tell them I was a Computer Security Professional, and I am not passive about certain things. So, hopefully that is, at least on the decline.
I came looking for the “Contact Me” at least 2 times, and I evidently overlooked it.

      • Oh I will run it again, and not to long down the road.. We will do Our very Best at making this go viral.
I might just cut and paste on Google and Facebook, just so everyone see it.
In fact let me run this “A Short History of Child Protection in America”, I found it at the ABA.

        • That’d be awesome – I post it all the time and it is amazing, as you have said, at peoples’ lack of enthusiasm about child protection/safety – it’s pushed on FaceBook, Twitter, StumbleUpon,Tumblr,LinedIn, Criticl – all over the place 🙂 As you know well, I’m sure Robert, you just keep plugging and putting one foot in front of the other. We can make a difference! 🙂

          • As I look at this pdf Kait, the stats listed aren’t real reassuring. Before I got into this, a very Dear Friend warned me many times that Our Country’s Stats are seriously tainted – on purpose – Sister Helen Ryan from St Marys in the UK.
Looking at these numbers, or at least part, I believe there is a reason Sister Helen was considered an authority o Child Sex Slaves and Women

            • I too believe that there is a much greater number that go unreported, unrecorded – known as the Dark Figure of crime – the stuff that doesn’t get found out. The problem is there are so many issues/stigmas attached to child abuse that no one speaks about it and children often have no way of going to any authority or the authority doesn’t listen or take a position. It’s a tragic blindness we have in society. It breaks my heart and it’s breaking our children and no one, NO ONE has the right to break someone else. I think women need to value their right as the nurturers and caregivers, the mystery and glory of nature – not sexually objectified into a commodity, as this is basically what has happened. The statistics we are given are always skewed by someone who wants you to believe something else, provide a diversion/distraction to real issues at hand and never has a true sample to glean anything from in the first place – so we must know it is not true – and like an iceberg the true seriousness lies under the water and like the Titanic we seem to be heading straight for it!
