The Most Important Thing

THe most important thing racoon

She married him

when she was 23

and he was 37

She thought she’d met

Prince Charming

and he thought he’d gone

to Heaven

It didn’t take long tho’

for him to change

his song

And feel like he

was imprisoned

It happened so fast,

turned life on its arse –

she fell undeniably

and beautifully pregnant

She had her baby alone

while he drank and whored

in their home

No, it hadn’t been long

he was just bored

and it was just wrong

He had already been here

twice in his life

He had other children

and more than one wife

So with dignity

and as a lady

she took nothing

with her

just her baby

She didn’t want half

of the furniture

or a share of

the bling

She knew

she had kept

the most important thing

  1. This happened to someone I know. Only difference is that there wasn’t much of an age difference and he hadnt been married before. I hope the woman in your story finds love again because that will be hard for her.

  2. Interesting. Just to add another perspective to the discussion: Number one reason for divorce is financial situation, I.e., husband losing/leaving/changing his job. What about these woman taking the child with them anyway? Sometimes even by accusing their ex unjustly of having done something to justify their taking-away the child … Thanks and all the best!

    • Oh my goodness, that is a massive can of worms to open! 😯😁But absolutely yes, there are so many discriminations against both sexes, although men always seem to get the short end of the stick. I think cheating or the suspicion thereof is a huge factor in separating, domestic violence too. As I said, it’s massive!! And very complicated, I just wish the children didn’t have to be exposed to the breakdown 🙁. That’s the main reason I left. I wasn’t bending anymore, I was broken. Totally my perspective and every story has 3 sides, but I thank you greatly for comment Mathias 🙂, very interesting!

    • Oh I hope so Dave, we live and learn and sometimes we don’t – but in the end it’s all about you and who you are – who you want to be represented as. I was married once when I was 24, had my son and never married again – I tend to run away! lol 🙂
