Sometimes I stare blankly at my computer screen, it gives me nothing back and I have nothing in my head. Yet it feels like something is very close…all I have to do is start. Just start somewhere…even if it’s exactly what is in my head – like “sigh”… They say writing is a discipline and this is very true for me. Even though once I’m actually writing I’m sucked into the void, it is sometimes a struggle to start. I love writing and get lost in the whirlwind of it all, and then wonder – why am I so resistant at times? Am I worried my words will get used up? I won’t have anything to write? And I have to mentally slap myself on the wrist – how shallow I am to think I would have experienced and felt everything there is to feel and experience so I could write about it.
The world and universe are far greater than the capacity my brain has to understand all things. I really am but a grain of sand in the big picture of things. We all are – but grains of sand make stunning beaches and pieces of paradise when put together….I wonder if there is something we should be learning from this? And who would’ve thought that a mere grain of sand on its’ own also had the power to change perspectives. That paradise beach is not so out of reach for the human race – if only we all stuck together to keep paradise a paradise…
Fact👌

You can 100% start from absolutely anywhere, write anything that comes to mind and just edit bits out later. “Sigh” is a certified start to me anyway

But I think it is that simple Kait. My heaven is within me. There is nothing outside of me. And with every loving and kind thought and action I make my life more beautiful and help raise the consciousness of the whole world… however little 😊🙏

This is a beautiful way to make our own lives a concious decision to be filled with love, but the one thing that we cannot change, is others. We can only change ourselves….and this may or may not encourage change in others. We should always be the best example of a human soul, yet so many lack that initial perspective of us just as souls – not a color, not a religion, not a culture or even a human…but as a soul 🙏🙂

This Post is totally relatable .I totally agree … I know there are times , I am just lost with no words .. and it becomes difficult to start . But all we have to do is just start …

I don’t know how you write so consistently, when I finish something, I have to read for awhile.

Every writers face this challenge of ‘feeling empty’ or ‘not getting a Start’. Sometimes we may feel even ‘what’s the point of doing this’ while sitting in front of computer. Success is when we overcome all these feelings and continue to write. You are already successful..

Hello, Neat post. There is a problem with your web site in web explorer, might check this?K IE still is the marketplace leader and a huge component of people will omit your magnificent writing due to this problem.

Great post! Very relatable! For me, inspiration always seems to strike when I am doing something else. When I’m walking down the street or drinking coffee at the local Starbucks. It’s frustrating because when I do find myself in front of a computer screen…nothing.

Oh thank you so much! 🙂 Hey I look at a napkin as a notepad, and any cardboard – I’ve used beer bottle holders (they are cardboard here) to write on when the moment strikes. I tend to keep a small paper notebook in my handbag to scribble on too, and often I am using my notepad on my phone…I’ve spent too many moments ranting to myself “Why didn’t I write it down at the time? There were beer mats there!” 😉 Keep writing 🙂

Indeed, words might be limited, even limiting, something an experience is diluted by the nature of trying to write about it, but I’ve discovered, if it wasn’t for writing, then all the wonder, and all the dream, and all those mini-moments time forgets, would be lost for forever. Nice piece @Kait King; both provocative and poignant.

Thank you so much for your comment and for reading 🙂 I am so grateful for words; I didn’t realise the cathartic value writing would have either, so just another added bonus as far as I’m concerned! I find I’m constantly scribbling down those odd lines/thoughts/ideas – I always have, but now there is reason behind it all – “now when I look back I can see myself growing and moving through my words – sometimes better than photographs and certainly a trigger of memories and a reminder of a past life or perhaps another, altogether…” 😉

Most of the time when I wait for inspiration, I see none, but when I start anyways, I get lost in the ocean of ink. This is really great. Good job, Kait.

There are months when the creative zoo sits empty for months… And then all the animals arrive at once and you’re stuck to a laptop 24/7. Hey, where did that giraffe come from?!

I get that feeling every morning. I just start writing anything, and yeah I’ll need to rewrite it later, but getting started in the first place is the hardest part. Once you have that, the good writing starts showing up.

Our brains are most productive during late nights and the thoughts we can think of is truly mind boggling. However, we must allow ourselves to imagine and be resilient to any chastising from those who try to hinder our imagination and ideas.

Hey Kait I loved your post.
The eternal problem for writers is struggling for the words to come! But, as you say, we cannot have felt or experienced everything and therefore are limitless in the amount of things we have to say! (Though it doesn’t always come so easy 🙂 )
I don’t know about you but I find writing can be a way of exploring and understanding the world and incoorporating my own experiences and emotions into a story that perhaps makes sense of them in a way I hadn’t considered before…
Good luck with the writing!

Thank you Caroline 🙂 and yes I absolutely do love the changing perspectives writing can allow us – it’s all interpretation and so rewarding when someone gets something out of your words! I’ve been surprised at how many people can relate to my ramblings actually! lol 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by, much appreciated

I am really loving the theme/design of your weblog.
Do you ever run into any browser compatibility issues?
A handful of my blog visitors have complained about my blog
not working correctly in Explorer but looks great in Chrome.
Do you have any advice to help fix this problem?
