I cannot keep
my eyes open
the drugs,
they make me sleep
I cannot do what
I really want to
the drugs,
they make me weak
I cannot say
what I want to say
the drugs,
they tie my tongue
I cannot think
in all clarity
the drugs,
they make me wrong

I have chronic, genetic insomnia. I was told my paternal grandmother had it and that was before safe sleep aids. She suffered quite a bit. For me, natural methods don’t work very well anymore, so, I need to take meds more than I like. It’s frustrating. Thanks for the poem. 🙂

Oh I hear you, friend! I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this. Chronic insomnia is horrendous. I’m asleep in 3 to 4 hour lots, as long as the drugs last….
Oh and you are very welcome!🙂🙏

I can relate. I too feel like a light weight at times.
But don’t forget drugs also expand your mind.
Drugs can give ya a real good time.

Hahaha! Cheers dude 🙂 Sorry I meant as in over-medicated or in my case chemicals are the only thing that has some effect on the nerve damage I have and suffer extreme pain from – 2 medical stuff ups – so unfortunately I am no light-weight! I only wish it were so! I have a pay-off calculation I have to make – pain or brain – I can have one or the other, but not both 😉

I like the rhyme. I like the whole poem. Nice work… sometimes it can be good to be a little wrong eh?

Lol – yes and sometimes it’s just inevitable 🙂 Thank you for your compliments too! Oh and unfortunately I’m forced to take heavy pain medication so I fricken hate the things!! I can’t speak, see, talk, walk, make a decision when swallowing that crappiola! 🙂 Or write for that matter….could be entertaining as long as I wait till the next morning before I post it lol! 😉

I do the same with a sometimes necessary pain medication – and yes, some interesting writing – usually all i can use is the idea 🙂

Man that’s a bonus! Usually all I can use is the back of the paper I wrote on for my shopping list 😀 haha!
