That’s What I’m After

What I'm after

It’s your eyes

It’s your mouth

It’s your smile

your heart

your laughter

But it’s my heart

my fear

It’s my love

my hope

That’s what I’m after

Blink of an Eye

Domestic violence

that Evil Beast

Thriving on hurt

when all you want

is Peace

Insecure person

always comparing in loss

Punching out your feeble Anger

But your Family pays the cost

Vulnerable? Were you

beaten yourself?

Shouldn’t you know better

than to put them through

this Hell?

Poor little person…

Is that what you want

them to think?

So here you stand at

a Crossroad

You can change all of this

in a Blink

Doubtful

doubtful

You know deep down

inside of you

What is wrong

and when it’s true

You do know that

you have a voice

You can escape if

you make the choice

You know even

if shit goes down

That you will handle it

without

support around

Sometimes you feel like

you’d be better off dead

But you have to

remove those thoughts

Stay positive

Keep your head

Look at me…

Vintage mod rock

Look at me

waffling on

happy as a bee

Look at me

skipping through life

thinking I’m free

Look at me

that wistful child

once so wild

and now independent

and grown

Look at me

with 3 under 3

and a house I don’t

even own

Look at me

shared weekends

if we’re lucky

And I know you’ve been

sucking

someone else’s cherry

lip gloss

Look at me

bitter days

long nights

spent watching crap TV

Never to be

free –

the very unhappy

divorcee

Another Opportunity

opportunity

Yes love,

that’s exactly

what you do

Dust yourself off

once you’ve

pulled yourself up

and sing

dance

stand tall

Honey if you

think about it

it’s not the first time

and be sure

it will not be the last

You know the rights

from the wrongs

Don’t ever let them change

your song

With a Nelson Mandelian

grace

and a dignity dug

from the deep

You will triumph

and in a cloud of

dust, like a rolling

Pig Pen

You flagrantly walk

your walk into

another opportunity

The Most Important Thing

THe most important thing racoon

She married him

when she was 23

and he was 37

She thought she’d met

Prince Charming

and he thought he’d gone

to Heaven

It didn’t take long tho’

for him to change

his song

And feel like he

was imprisoned

It happened so fast,

turned life on its arse –

she fell undeniably

and beautifully pregnant

She had her baby alone

while he drank and whored

in their home

No, it hadn’t been long

he was just bored

and it was just wrong

He had already been here

twice in his life

He had other children

and more than one wife

So with dignity

and as a lady

she took nothing

with her

just her baby

She didn’t want half

of the furniture

or a share of

the bling

She knew

she had kept

the most important thing

Daily grind of a good guy

Daily grind

I come home

the cat’s at my feet

kids are crying

but there’s nothing made to eat

It’s a hard day at work

with paper knee deep

and the heater’s broken

so I can’t get to sleep

Yet another day comes

we follow like sheep

I can’t find the faith

to make that big leap

I know I shouldn’t take it in

so very, very deep

But it seems to be sort of extra hard

when you aren’t someone who cheats

Lyrics to Does me good in my Soul

Do me good in my soul

CH: I know what I have

and I know what I want

What I can’t figure out

is what it is that I don’t

Verse 1: I don’t have to take

their crap

and all that yakkity-yak

that does me no good

in my Soul

Verse 2: I’ve walked down

that track

And I have always

looked back

but that does me no good

in my Soul

Verse 3: ‘Cause I’ve cried

nearly every day

And that’s not just something

I’d say

’cause it does me no good

in my Soul

Verse 4: But then I look

at you

And I know Love

so true

and that does the World of Good

in my Soul

I Dance Emotions

dance with emotions

I breathe feelings

I dance emotions

and coddle dreams

I rap time

if it’s mine

and wander the roads

of forever

I trickle into hearts

sometimes I’m poured

sometimes it’s voracious

sometimes

bored

The mystical flow

of the words that glow

in the firelight

faces wait

breath held in

anticipation

waiting on

the words of love

so soft

so real

so true

I feel them

Can you feel them too?
