Urban Dismay

urban-dismay

The city streets

look oh so sleek

but only when

it rains

Below the glitterati

Porsche

Benz

Maserati

In the parking basement

remain

Below even that

expensive, unreal mat

broken people

who never

have gain

No cash in the casino

No boat in the marina

And no money

to hide

their pain

How much?

How much

So I look at my bills

and it scares me half to death

I can’t believe I’ve spent all that

and then all the rest

Numbers march across a page

attempting to make sense

My brain engages zero –

the numbers too intense

And I dream about other things

that I haven’t purchased yet

Like diamond rings and gold plated things

and maybe a Lear jet

Vivisanction

Perhaps stop

splicing Elephants

to Faeries

and things of such

ridiculousness

Perhaps don’t bring

the Mammoth

back to life

as tempting as

it is

to be God

Perhaps the World

is perfect

the way

She is

the way

She works

And even better

without humans

Perhaps it’s

all as it

should be…

All that it is

Cheers World

cheers world

There’s a place I like to go

where everyone seems to know

who I am

I like this world

There’s this space I like to be

where everyone I see

is my best friend

in the world

And if I take you there

do you promise not to stare

cos it’s not done like that

in my world

When you walk in the door

and you say she’s just a whore

don’t put her down

it’s not your world

When you stand up at the bar

please don’t brag about your car

We don’t really care

this is our world

And when you do take her home at night

when she squeezes you back tight

Don’t leave her all alone

this is her world

If You Enjoy My Words…

I would really appreciate your help…

Someone suggested that I could get paid to write and that I should set up a donations page. So here goes! It feels a little awkward but this is what I would like to do full-time, write. I can’t pay my bills unless I earn my way so this will be my leap of faith. Thank you for letting me believe I have wings! Please note your donation is in NZ dollars and you may determine the amount – thank you again x
