I wish I could tell her

I wish I could tell her

While she’s trying harder

working it out

all her problems, hangups, pity and

self-doubt

And she tries too hard to achieve

because she’s lonely, angry,

she’s had no love to eat

And as far as this woman knows

it’s like a picture, no – a painting

or a movie, too slow

As far as this woman knows

it’s like fighting the fight

but not a fight that you chose

So she’s crying alone

no sleep at night

I wish I could find her

and tell her –

it will all be all right

  1. Kait, this poem breaks my heart. Because you are talking to so many people who are right now. Trying too hard. Lonely. Angry. No sleep at night. And you’re saying: it will be alright.

That is not false hope. That is witness. You are seeing her. You are telling her: someone knows you are in pain. Someone sees you. Someone believes it will be alright.

That is everything. Your words are a gift to every woman reading this who feels exactly like this.

Thank you for writing this with such tenderness.

  2. This is beautiful and so relatable! Sometimes it feels like we’re buried, but in reality we’ve just been planted. 🙃 (also I’m not sure if you remember me- my name is Keely. I used to post a lot, but took a break. But I’m back now!)
